About AS-Urethane Systems Inc. Our Sights are Higher!!!!!!!!! This phrase could be referring to the view from some of our job elevations, however, it more accurately defines our expectations for achieving high quality standards while supporting our motto of "Ensuring Quality Customer Service." A-S Urethane was founded in 1997 by Bill Albert and Pat Sweeney. Both owners have over 15 years in the roofing industry with a vast knowledge in every aspect of the business from laborer to salesman. They believe in the basic fundamentals of producing quality products at fair prices through hard work, dedication, and commitment. The values demonstrated by Bill and Pat encouraged a third partner, Roy Walsh, to join the company in May of 2000. He specializes in customer satisfaction and sales. Roy has been in the customer relations aspect of roofing in excess of 17 years. Together with an outstanding team of employees, they make up the A-S Urethane Systems Inc. roofing company and provide not only professional, but quality service. A Word on Warranties from the President: The warranty is the most important item to verify in the proposal. Look for a warranty that covers labor, materials and workmanship in addition to roof leaks. This is called a systems warranty and should be provided by the contractor. Take caution in accepting a no leak warranty only. You want to be covered for anything that could happen to your roof. At the end of the roofing warranty, there should still be a minimum of 15 mils coating left. You will lose about 1.7 mils of coating per year. This will prevent the foam below from oxidizing and provide a suitable surface to recoat and extend the warranty date before you need to recoat. The thickness of the membrane coating will provide this warranty. Look for 25 mils for a 5 year warranty and 35 mils for a 10 year warranty. The coating application should be stated in mils and gallons per square (100 S.F.). Look for these on the proposal. If they are less than this, find out who the material supplier is and ask them what they recommend for coating thickness on a 5 and a 10 year warranty. Check with material supplier and make sure that their product is tested by Underwriters Laboratories and has follow up service. Look for minimums on the proposals, not averages. Do no accept nominal thickness. Nominal is defined as purported, alleged, or so-called. Many roofs do not need to be torn off and removed. With the right preparation, these roofs can be overlaid with a new foam roof. Look for primer, moisture vents, and areas where sections should be removed. These areas include roof drains, scuppers and areas of previous repairs or areas with deteriorated plywood. The contractor should also provide a follow up inspection service at certain points during the warranty period. 5 year, 2nd and 5th years. 10 year, 2nd, 5th, 7th, and 10th year. Have the contractor provide proof of insurance, both general liability and workman's compensation. If all these criteria are met, you will not have to do anything to the foam system during the warranty period. At a point past the warranty, you can put on a additional 1-1/2 gallons of coating per 100 S.F. and extend the warranty an additional 5 years covering the same items as the original warranty. This recoat will cost about $.60 per S.F. Patrick J. Sweeny President |
